ITMA 2019

Dear Customers,

In view of the slogan of ITMA 2019, “Innovating the World of Textiles”, we decided to use our stand to present you with newly created developments and application examples. Happily, you seized this opportunity to gather information regarding our group’s latest products and therefore I would like to thank you all once again for your visits. May I also say that I was delighted by both my many personal contacts with you and the great interest shown in our unique innovations. Your presence was much appreciated, as for us your requirements with regard to our products and services constitute a constant incentive to push ahead with the further development and improvement of our portfolio.

Yours sincerely,
Robert Reimann, CEO

Jakob Mueller Group personnel

The Jakob Müller Team would like to thank you for visiting our stand at the ITMA.

INNOVATING THE WORLD OF NARROW FABRICS – JAKOB MÜLLER GROUP AT ITMA 2019

The ITMA 2019 once again proved its importance as the leading trade fair for the textile industry. More than 1,700 exhibitors (60 from Switzerland) from 45 countries exhibited their products on an area of 220,000 m2. More than 100,000 visitors from 137 countries visited the fair.

The ITMA 2019 was extremely successful for the Jakob Müller Group. Approximately 1'000 companies visited the booth. The Jakob Müller Group presented only new developments and clearly underlined its market leadership in the field of narrow textiles.

A lot of innovative solutions and applications have been shown – among others the MDW technology (Multi Directional Weaving) - a technology, which constitutes a global first!

Based on this technology, Jakob Müller has developed a unique product:

VELVEDGE® – REINVENTING THE LABEL

The new VELVEDGE® selvedges replace hot wire, ultrasonic and laser label slitting systems. Consequently, they are ideally suited to top quality clothing that is worn directly on the skin. VELVEDGE® is therefore particularly attractive to brand manufacturers of articles such as sportswear, as the label remains attached to the clothing in the long-term. More...

VELVEDGE® – REINVENTING THE LABEL

The very same technology can be applied on a narrow fabric needle loom and is shown based on a

NFM® 53 2/84 MDW® NARROW FABRIC NEEDLE LOOM WITH SPECIAL LAYERING DEVICE

On this machine, Jakob Müller showed a special tape with a conductive thread, which finally goes into a Mammut® outdoor hiking boot with a heated insole fitted with a temperature sensor, electronic control and temperature regulation, as well as a switch for Bluetooth linkage with a smart phone. The related app not only allows the heating to be switched on and off, and the pre-selection of four warmth levels, but also shows the battery charging status. Nonetheless, what does the walker do when the battery is flat? Luckily, the boot contains components for inductive charging and a USB plug via which the battery can be provided with the required energy via a cable. More...

A lot of innovation has been done in the field of needle weaving. Jakob Müller presented the latest developments on the booth at ITMA 2019.

NFM® 53 4/66 HIGH-PERFORMANCE NARROW FABRIC NEEDLE LOOM

The high-performance NFM® 53 4/66 narrow fabric needle loom belongs to the newest product group of the Jakob Müller company and has been designed for the production of light to medium-weight elastic and non-elastic tapes. The “M” in the machine designation stands for the word “modular” and for customers, means simplified modification and enlargement possibilities, increased efficiency and higher productivity.
At the ITMA 2019, the Jakob Müller Group presented the global premiere of a machine using the Z9K weaving system. This employs two weft needles, the top one of which operates in conjunction with the upper warp needle to form stitches in line with a weaving system 1. The lower weft needle works with the lower warp needle and uses auxiliary threads like weaving system 2. The effect is continuous and lends the Z9 its “K”. The ED function (electronic drive), which bears a Jakob Müller Group patent, enables the weft thread feed to be controlled in such a manner that the ground tape has a width of 53 mm and the loops 48 mm. In addition, the machine speed can be varied in line the current woven pattern passage. Small loops are created with 10 weft threads per centimetre and a speed of 1,300 rpm. By contrast, large loops are formed with 7.5 weft threads per centimetre and a speed of 1,000 rpm. More...

NFMJ 80 6/66 HIGH-PERFORMANCE NARROW FABRIC NEEDLE LOOM WITH JACQUARD DEVICE

The high-performance NFMJ 80 6/66 narrow fabric needle loom is the world’s largest machine of its type and is naturally designed and built by the Jakob Müller company. The SPE3 jacquard unit has 1,536 functions and thus enables the weaving of elastic and non-elastic tapes with very fine threads. The jacquard narrow fabric needle loom on display at the fair operates using the high-middle-low principle and 768 functions are available for actual patterning.

At the fair, the newly developed NFMJ 80 6/66 was shown with an elastic tape with changing colour and holographic effects. The colour interplay is the result of a fabric structure patented by the Jakob Müller Group, which renders the patterning invisible unless the tape is stretched. However, once this is extended, certain coloured design elements can be seen when viewed from the right. Should the tape be looked at from the left, other colour effects or lettering suddenly appear. Therefore, depending on the angle of vision more or fewer patterning elements are recognisable.
The holographic tape produced is elastic and pleated in form. The Z6 weaving system binds the two tape selvedges on the right-hand side. In order to obtain a uniform weave structure, elastic threads are then added to the top and underneath sides of the tape by separate, positive controlled transport units. After weaving, the tape is opened up and therefore has a double width. This product is then employed as a broad waistband in fashionable jogging and sport pants. During sport, the patterning effects become alternately visible and a skin protection layer on the underside of the tape enhances wearer comfort. More...

MD 4/85 NARROW FABRIC NEEDLE LOOM FOR MEDIUM-WEIGHT TAPES AND BELTS

The MD 4/85 narrow fabric loom is a new product from the Jakob Müller Group and is designed for the production of medium-weight tapes and belts. Machines in this area are usually equipped with only 2 weaving heads. However, in order to create a more favourable ratio between the machine footprint and production output, Jakob Müller decided to equip a machine with four weaving heads.

At the fair, the MD 4/85 was weaving a lifting belt designed for a load bearing capacity of six tonnes. Such high strength is achieved by the use of 3,300 dtex polyester filament yarn as a warp material, which has been double drafted in the healds, and 1,670 dtex polyester filament yarn for the weft threads. The belt application requires run proofing on the knitting needle selvedge and therefore weaving system 5 is preferred. However, as a special surprise, on its stand Jakob Müller simultaneously demonstrated the machine with all of its four possible weaving systems. More...

Another milestone has been reached with the development of the new rapier machine for the production of labels:

MÜGRIP® MBJ8 – THE NEW RAPIER MACHINE FOR LABEL PRODUCTION

Jakob Müller AG has unveiled its new MÜGRIP® MBJ8 rapier loom for the manufacture of labels. With a production speed of 680 rpm and a maximum reed width of 1,380 mm, the machine offers the efficient output of labels, images and technical narrow fabrics with slit selvedges. The machine is equipped with a lot of new and innovative features making it the most efficient one in the market. More...

A lot of innovation has also been done in the field of dyeing and finishing. Jakob Müller shows a development, that meets the increasing requirements in terms of ecology:

NEW ECO WASH TANK

Jakob Müller launches a new type of wash tank for the continuous dyeing of narrow fabrics.
This wash tank module is part of the MFR dye lines. It combines highest efficiency in washing process for best colour fastness with significant lower demand on water, chemicals and energy to save resources and costs.
